Thailand has decided to lift the ban on alcohol consumption in the afternoon, just a few days after its introduction, due to strong protests from the tourism sector. Starting in December, the sale of alcoholic beverages will be allowed between 2:00 PM and 5:00 PM for a period of six months, and the Minister of Public Health, Pattana Promphat, announced that the pilot program could be extended until 2026. Recently, the Thai government has implemented stricter regulations regarding alcohol consumption, including fines for drinking outside the permitted hours. Additionally, the new laws prohibit the promotion of alcoholic beverages by celebrities, which has raised concerns among the restaurant industry and foreign tourists.
