The Texas legislature has adopted an electoral map that could bring Republicans five additional seats in the US Congress through gerrymandering.

The new electoral map adopted by the Texas legislature, under pressure from Donald Trump, aims to strengthen the Republican majority in the US Congress. The redistricting, considered gerrymandering, dilutes the votes of minority voters, especially African-Americans and Hispanics, who usually support Democrats. Although Democrats tried to block the initiative, they had to flee the state to prevent the vote. Gov. Greg Abbott must now enact the new map.
