Early voting for the U.S. midterm elections began Monday in Texas, and Democrats are hoping for historic victories in this traditionally Republican stronghold, AFP reports.
Earlier in the day, queues formed outside a polling station in Houston. Texans have until November 3 to choose between the Democratic candidates, who are basing their campaign on economic concerns, and the Republicans, aligned behind U.S. President Donald Trump.
Voters will also have to choose their next governor: Republican Greg Abbott, 68, who is running for a fourth term, or Democrat Gina Hinojosa, a 52-year-old lawyer, whom polls show to have a slight lead.
