Wang Hao, vice president and president of Tesla China, stated that the units in Shanghai will significantly contribute to the development of robotics as Tesla enters a new era of robots. During a tour of the Shanghai factory, Wang emphasized that CEO Elon Musk has identified the challenge of large-scale production as essential for manufacturing humanoid robots. Although he did not detail how the factory will support this initiative, he stated that the Shanghai division is the "golden key" to solving the challenges encountered.
Musk encouraged investors to focus on the future of artificial intelligence, including the development of robotaxis and robots that can care for plants and elderly people. In this context, Tesla has decided to halt production of the S and X models to adapt a factory in Fremont, California, for the production of Optimus robots. Although Tesla delivered fewer than 500 intelligent robots in 2025, the company is recognized for its advancements in the field of artificial intelligence, according to a report by the research group Omdia.
