Bernard Aquilina, a computer science teacher, was dismissed and received an indefinite ban on teaching in England after he slapped a student who was laughing at a classmate who could not answer a question. The ethics committee found him guilty of unacceptable conduct, and witnesses confirmed the incident. Although he showed some remorse, Aquilina did not demonstrate an understanding of the seriousness of his actions, which led to the conclusion that there is a risk of repeating the behavior. The ban can be contested starting in 2029.
