The Swedish armed forces conducted exercise Aurora 26, a large-scale training for war scenarios, during April-May, involving over 18,000 military personnel from 13 countries. The exercise included simulating the management of casualties, using over 500 mannequins and body bags to prepare authorities for a large number of deaths. This was the first activity of such scale in Sweden since the early 1950s, aimed at preparing institutions for managing war casualties.

The process included the recovery, identification, and burial of fallen soldiers, with the support of the Church of Sweden and other agencies. The Church of Sweden also has rules for managing a large number of deaths, with the capacity to organize funerals for up to 500,000 people. This direction represents a significant change for Sweden, which has maintained neutrality for over two centuries, and other countries in the region are also intensifying their crisis preparations.
