The Swedish army will collaborate with the Finnish armed forces to monitor and protect the territory of Finland, using Gripen fighter jets and corvettes, according to an announcement made on Friday by the Finnish armed forces. This measure, which will continue at least until the end of the year, aims to strengthen aerial surveillance, thus allowing the Finnish defense forces to focus their resources on repelling any potential violations or incidents.
The decision was made following a request from Finland, which faces an eastern border of 1,340 km with Russia. Finland and Sweden, the most recent NATO members, are already closely collaborating in the field of defense, thereby enhancing regional security.
