Sweden has decided not to participate in the Council for Peace initiative, chaired for life by Donald Trump, announced Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson at a press conference in Davos. The Council's initial objective is to manage the conflict in Gaza, but it intends to expand to other conflicts as well. Alongside Sweden, Norway and France have stated that they will not join the council in its current form.

The United Kingdom has also expressed concerns regarding the composition of the council, particularly due to the inclusion of Russian President Vladimir Putin and his Belarusian counterpart, Alexander Lukashenko, in its structure. These reactions suggest a general reluctance among some European states towards Trump's initiative.
