The Council of Ministers in Madrid has decided to extend the missions of Spanish soldiers abroad until December 31, 2026, with a significant presence in Lebanon and on NATO's eastern flank. Approximately 4,000 soldiers and officers of the Civil Guard will continue to be deployed in 15 countries, including Romania. This decision underscores Spain's commitment to being a reliable partner in NATO.
Spanish soldiers actively participate in international missions, including in Lebanon, where they lead the eastern sector of the UN mission, and in anti-piracy operations in the Indian Ocean. The main objectives of the missions are to ensure stability in conflict zones, combat terrorism, and defend allied territory.
