A new drone detected by the Romanian Ministry of National Defence’s radars at Romania’s border. Two Spanish F-18 aircraft took off

An aerial target was detected on the night from Sunday to Monday by the Ministry of National Defence’s radars. Two F-18 aircraft of the Spanish Air and Space Force took off from the 57th Air Base “Mihail Kogălniceanu”, while the authorities activated measures to alert the population in the north of Tulcea County.

The Spanish aircraft were on combat duty for the Enhanced Air Policing mission. The takeoff took place after the National Military Command Centre notified the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations about the implementation of the alert measures.

At 02:34, the population in the north of Tulcea County received a RO-Alert message. However, the Ministry of National Defence stated that no incursions into national airspace had been detected.
