A portion of Southern Boulevard in Florida has been renamed 'President Donald J. Trump Boulevard', following a ceremony at Mar-a-Lago, attended by Donald Trump. The President stated that he feels 'very honored' by this gesture, describing the sign marking the name change as 'impressive' and 'magnificent'. The stretch is approximately 6.5 kilometers long and provides a connection between the airport where Air Force One lands and Trump's residence.
The change was made possible by a law passed by the Florida Legislature, with support from local committees. The initiative was spearheaded by Republican representative Meg Weinberger, who mentioned the difficulties encountered at the beginning. Although the change is symbolic and does not affect official addresses, it is part of a broader trend to honor Trump's name in various places, which has generated controversy in the past. Many historians believe that these tributes may have a limited impact over time.
