South Korean President Lee Jae Myung stated on Tuesday, at the Ankara Defense Industry Forum, that his country also wishes to expand cooperation with NATO in the field of research, development, and production of weapon systems. Lee emphasized the need to modernize South Korea's relationship with the military alliance, proposing a 'defense industry partnership 2.0' that would include not only arms exchanges but also collaborations in research, production, and operation of defense systems.
He highlighted that integrating South Korean technologies with NATO expertise could significantly enhance the defense capabilities of both parties, thus reaffirming South Korea's commitment as a reliable partner for NATO members.
