In the city of Minakami, Gunma Prefecture, Japan, a serious traffic accident occurred due to a collision between two trucks, resulting in the involvement of over 50 vehicles. A 77-year-old woman from Tokyo was declared a fatal victim, and five people suffered serious injuries. The accident was exacerbated by weather conditions, with a roadway covered in snow, which prevented cars from braking.

Following the incident, sections of the highway remain closed for investigations and debris clearance, in the context of a heavy snowfall warning.
