Senator Mark Warner from Virginia, an important Democrat on the Senate Intelligence Committee, expressed serious concerns regarding the legality of American and Israeli attacks in Iran. He emphasized that, according to the Constitution, Congress has the authority to decide on war, and extensive military operations, without an imminent threat, raise constitutional issues. Warner mentioned that, although he was informed about the attacks by Secretary of State Marco Rubio, he did not receive a complete legal justification. He called for the administration to provide a clear justification and a plan to avoid U.S. involvement in a costly conflict. A meeting of congressional leaders with senior officials was also mentioned, which took place to discuss policy towards Iran. The military operation ordered by Trump, aimed at overthrowing the Iranian regime, was not approved by Congress.
