The European Commission states that the work on security guarantees for Ukraine continues "at the same pace" and "there are no changes," despite recent tensions between the EU and the US regarding Greenland.

The European Union has confirmed that the work on security guarantees for Ukraine continues without changes, despite recent tensions between the EU and the United States related to Greenland, emphasizing that support for Kyiv remains "unwavering."

In short

The EU states that the process regarding security guarantees for Ukraine continues without changes.

Tensions related to Greenland do not affect EU-US cooperation on the Ukrainian file.

Brussels reaffirms its constant and unconditional support for Ukraine.

The Ukraine file remains separate from other geopolitical disputes.

Asked during the daily briefing of the European Commission whether the recent tensions between the European Union and the United States, generated by threats related to Greenland, affect the work on security guarantees for Ukraine, a Commission representative dismissed any connection between the two files.

The Commission spokesperson stated that "I can only confirm that the work continues at the same pace as before, nothing has changed in this regard." He added that the EU's support for Ukraine remains firm and unaffected by other geopolitical developments, emphasizing that the commitments made to Kyiv are treated separately and consistently.

The Commission representative also specified that the European Union maintains "unwavering support" for Ukraine, and cooperation with international partners, including the United States, on this file continues according to existing planning.

Journalists' questions also focused on whether the issue of Greenland could be included in discussions regarding regional security architecture or in broader negotiations related to Ukraine. The Commission ruled out this scenario, clearly indicating that the two subjects are distinct and treated separately.

The European Union and the United States have been working for several months to strengthen support for Ukraine, including through medium- and long-term security guarantees. In the context of the war triggered by Russia, Brussels has consistently emphasized that support for Ukraine is not conditioned by other geopolitical files and is not subject to compensatory negotiations.
