A search took place at the Élysée Palace as part of an investigation into the awarding of contracts for funeral ceremonies at the Panthéon

The Élysée Palace was targeted on Thursday by a search conducted by the National Financial Prosecutor's Office (PNF), as part of an investigation into the awarding of public contracts for organizing funeral ceremonies at the Panthéon. This is the first search carried out at the headquarters of the French presidency since the Benalla scandal in 2019. The PNF stated that the operations were preceded by institutional discussions to allow them to take place under the conditions of the inviolability of the Élysée Palace. The investigation, opened in October 2025, targets possible acts of favoritism, conflict of interest, corruption, and influence peddling. Among the elements being investigated is the selection of the company Shortcut Events for organizing the pantheonization ceremonies, each of which has an estimated cost of around two million euros. The Élysée Palace has not yet provided an official comment regarding the search.
