The Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, stated to CNBC that the Labour Party should officially take on the goal of bringing the United Kingdom back into the European Union at the next general elections.

Khan acknowledged the poor results of the Labour Party in the local elections and urged the government led by Prime Minister Keir Starmer to be bolder. He welcomed Starmer's speech about rebuilding relationships with the EU but explicitly called for the party to promise to return to the EU if it wins the elections.

The Mayor of London described Brexit as an act of economic self-sabotage and emphasized that returning to the single market would help combat the cost of living crisis. He also mentioned global economic challenges and warned that Labour risks losing the next elections if it does not act quickly. Khan appreciated that the relationship between Great Britain and the USA transcends political personalities but acknowledged that the Labour government made mistakes that affected the party's image.
