Dmitry Polianski said that European diplomacy is desperately looking for anti-Russian arguments, stressing that the conflict with Georgia is now irrelevant and is moving towards normalization. He accused Europeans of trying to lead Georgia down the path of a tragedy similar to Ukraine. Polianski also commented on the difficulties Western leaders face in attending meetings, given their policies in Ukraine. Russia recognized the independence of breakaway regions Abkhazia and South Ossetia after the 2008 war.
