Poland’s Foreign Minister confronted Lavrov at the UN: “Sergey, tell your boss: enough!”

Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski directly confronted his Russian counterpart, Sergei Lavrov, during a meeting of the UN Security Council. In his response, the official from Warsaw rejected Moscow’s claims about events in Ukraine and criticized the Kremlin’s military and foreign policy.

Sikorski denied that the change of power in Kyiv in 2014 had been a coup. He argued that the Ukrainian Parliament removed Viktor Yanukovych after more than 100 civilians were killed and also rejected the allegation that the Russian language had been banned in Ukraine.

The Polish minister accused Russia of waging a campaign of hybrid aggression in Europe through acts of sabotage, cyberattacks, contract killings and drone incidents along NATO’s borders. He said that Moscow was escalating the conflict because of its failure to achieve decisive results after years of war.

In the final part of his speech, Sikorski compared Russia’s economic capacity with that of Ukraine, Poland, Europe and NATO, arguing that the balance of forces does not allow Moscow to win the war. His final message to Lavrov was direct: to tell Vladimir Putin that “enough is enough.”
