Soldiers were deployed around the Miraflores presidential palace in Caracas, Venezuela, after explosions and low-altitude flights on January 3, 2026. In this context, Russia issued a warning for its citizens, advising them to avoid traveling to Venezuela, after American President Donald Trump announced an attack on the country and the capture of President Nicolas Maduro and his wife.
The Russian Embassy and the Ministry of Economy highlighted the danger of U.S. military aggression and the risks of further attacks. The Ministry of Economy also suggested that Russian tour operators suspend the promotion of travel to Venezuela. Russia has had close relations with Venezuela, cooperating in the energy sector and maintaining political and military ties, supporting Caracas in the face of international pressures.
