Maria Zakharova, the spokesperson for the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, warned that the Kremlin's "measures" "will not hesitate to appear" after the President of Romania, Nicușor Dan, announced that Andrey Kosilin, the consul of Russia in Constanța will be declared persona non-grata and that the consulate in Constanța will be closed.
She also accused the West of using the incident involving a Russian drone that crashed in Romania to distract attention from serious issues in Ukraine, mentioning the killing of children in Starobilsk, at a high school in a region occupied by Russia, which Kiev has denied.
The announcement from Romania was made in the context of a CSAT meeting, convened after the incident with the drone that caused an explosion and a fire in a building in Galați.
Previously, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that President of Russia, Vladimir Putin, is aware of the incident in Galați.
