The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, sent an urgent letter to the President of the USA, Donald Trump, warning about the deficit of air defense systems, especially anti-ballistic ones, amid the intensification of Russian airstrikes. Russia has threatened a new wave of strikes against Ukraine, and Zelensky emphasizes that he relies on the United States for defense against ballistic missiles.
Ukrainian officials fear that the limited stocks of Patriot interceptors will not be enough to cope with the bombings. The letter, distributed to other members of Congress as well, reflects Ukraine's concern about the difficulties in securing weapons through the PURL program.
Zelensky is requesting help to obtain Patriot PAC-3 missiles and other defense systems, emphasizing that most Russian missiles can be intercepted. Russia's latest massive attack, which involved 90 missiles and 600 drones, highlighted the pressure on Ukrainian air defense.
