Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced on Tuesday, following a meeting with U.S. envoy Steve Witkoff in Oslo, that the United States had resumed transmitting information about Russian missiles approaching Ukraine. Early warnings about ballistic attacks had been suspended last week.
Zelensky said that Ukraine could once again detect approaching missiles and thanked its American partners for their support. He emphasized that recent attacks, carried out without prior notification, had left the population vulnerable. “It is working now. It is wonderful,” the Kyiv leader said.
The meeting took place amid tensions between the Trump administration and Ukraine. The American president accused Zelensky of representing an obstacle to a peace agreement. Witkoff is scheduled to meet with Vladimir Putin on Wednesday, with the aim of preparing direct negotiations between Russia, Ukraine, and the United States.
The discussions in Oslo were also attended by Norway’s prime minister, Jonas Gahr Støre, Finland’s president, Alexander Stubb, European and British officials, as well as Jared Kushner, Donald Trump’s son-in-law.
