On the evening of Saturday, Russia launched a massive drone attack on the Ukrainian capital, Kyiv. The Ukrainian Air Force warned about the approach of swarms of Russian drones shortly before 10:00 PM local time. An hour after the warning, the mayor of Kyiv, Vitali Klitschko, reported explosions in the city and urged citizens to take shelter.
According to monitoring groups, up to 30 drones were heading towards Kyiv, but this information could not be verified. Firefighters intervened to extinguish fires that broke out in three houses and a residential building, without reporting any casualties. The attack occurred a day after another massive drone attack in the city of Ternopil, which injured at least 12 people. Russia has intensified mass airstrikes in 2026, and the Ukrainian foreign minister warned that Russia plans seven monthly attacks with drones and missiles.
