Russia has announced that it used the hypersonic missile Kinzhal in recent attacks on Ukraine, targeting 'strategic sites', according to the Russian Ministry of Defense. These attacks, described as 'massive' and using high-precision weapons, included medium and long-range missiles, as well as drones. The ministry stated that the strikes were a response to an alleged Ukrainian attack on a residence of Vladimir Putin, an accusation that Ukraine contests. The attacks caused at least four deaths in Kyiv and dozens of injuries. Putin stated that Western air defense systems cannot intercept these missiles, which could strike targets in Western Europe as well.
