Russia will closely monitor the results of the NATO summit taking place in Ankara, according to a statement made on Tuesday by Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov. He emphasized that the meeting was preceded by "confrontational" statements about Russia.

NATO leaders, including American President Donald Trump, who recently arrived in Ankara, will announce arms contracts worth tens of billions of dollars, responding to U.S. calls to increase defense spending in Europe. At the same time, Peskov mentioned that Russia maintains working contacts with the U.S. and hopes that American efforts to mediate peace in Ukraine will be successful. Trump spoke by phone with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and Russian President Vladimir Putin, emphasizing that Ukraine will be an important topic at the summit.
