Russia has begun to use a new drone model, Upyr-18, in the conflict in Ukraine, according to the TASS agency. This drone, with a frame of approximately 45 centimeters, can carry ten kilograms of explosives over long distances, having the capability to destroy bunkers and enemy positions. The manufacturer, Uraldronzavod, intends to increase the production of this model, which has demonstrated notable results in previous operations.
Additionally, Russia has deployed the Sarma multiple rocket launch system, considered a rival to the American HIMARS. Sarma has a range of up to 120 km and is used in rapid-fire tactics, similar to HIMARS. Compared to HIMARS rockets, which will benefit from a new version with a range of 150 km starting in 2024, Sarma offers a rapid response capability, essential in the context of the density of drones used on the battlefield.
