Russian forces have begun using the Geran-5 attack drone, which has a range of nearly 1,000 km, in the campaign against Ukraine.

The Military Intelligence Service of Ukraine (GUR) announced that Russia has introduced a new attack drone, named Geran-5, into the conflict with Ukraine. This drone, similar to the Iranian Karrar model, is approximately 6 meters long and has a wingspan of 5.5 meters, capable of carrying a warhead of 90 kilograms. With an estimated range of nearly 1,000 kilometers, the Geran-5 can theoretically reach any point in Ukraine. The drone is equipped with a satellite navigation system and an advanced tracking system. In the context of the intensification of Russian attacks on Ukrainian infrastructure, GUR claims that Russia could integrate the Geran-5 onto attack aircraft to extend its range and counter Ukrainian aviation.

Meanwhile, Ukraine is developing its own defense tactics, including the production of interceptor drones to neutralize Russian threats. President Zelensky reported a significant number of drone and missile attacks from Russia in the past week.
