Russia has implemented drastic restrictions in Moscow, closing airports and interrupting mobile internet services on the occasion of the Victory Day parade on May 9, which commemorates the victory over Nazi Germany.
The Kremlin justified these measures by the need to ensure security, considering the risks of drone attacks from Ukraine. Russian citizens have been forced to use VPNs, facing difficulties in communication and making payments. Unlike previous years, this year's parade will be significantly reduced, taking place without heavy military equipment for the first time in nearly two decades.
Moscow announced a ceasefire for the period of May 8-9, threatening a massive attack on Kyiv in case of its violation, a proposal that was rejected by Ukraine as a cynical maneuver.
Security in Moscow has been strengthened, and the personal protection of Vladimir Putin has been increased, according to European intelligence sources.
