The Ministry of National Defense (MApN) announced on Tuesday that in the morning, around 11:00, an F-16 from the Carpathian Vipers Detachment shot down a drone in Estonian airspace using an air-to-air missile.
The mission was coordinated by the Combined Air Operations Center (CAOC) Uedem, and the pilots identified the target and followed all necessary procedures for engagement.
After approval for engagement, they launched an air-to-air missile, successfully shooting down the drone.
The Minister of Defense, Radu Miruță, praised the achievement of Captain Commander Pavelescu Costel-Alexandru, emphasizing the importance of this action in the context of the global fight against drones.
Miruță proposed awarding the peace envoy emblem to the pilot, highlighting that Romania demonstrates advanced defense capabilities.
