The incident occurred in June 2024 at Miky's Italian Fusion restaurant in Crawley, Perth, when 12-year-old Hannah Lemin and her 11-year-old sister Olivia were served a citronella solution instead of cranberry juice. After the girls complained of a strange taste, their parents realized they had consumed a dangerous liquid. The incident led to the hospitalization of the children, who exhibited symptoms such as stomach burns and tingling.

The former owner of the restaurant was found guilty of selling unsafe food and failing to meet food safety obligations, receiving a fine of $40,000. His lawyer mentioned that he lost his business, and the girls' parents hope that this penalty will send a strong message to the hospitality industry.
