Renault will use Chinese parts for a new electric motor that will be assembled in France

The French car manufacturer Renault has started importing electric motors from China for the new Twingo model, rapidly developed with the help of Chinese engineers. The company has abandoned a partnership with Valeo for a more powerful electric motor, opting instead for a cheaper Chinese supplier. The Twingo will benefit from a new production line at the plant in Cléon, France, with a capacity of 120,000 motors per year, starting in 2027.

Dacia, part of the Renault group, is accelerating its electrification, with plans to launch two electric cars: Evader in 2027 and Sandero EV in 2028. Evader, a segment A model, will be unveiled in 2026 and will be produced in Slovenia. Sandero EV will replace the current model and will be available with multi-energy drivetrains, including electric and hybrid. Its production will take place in Morocco, where Dacia is investing in preparing the plant for electric vehicles.
