This technology allows for speech capture, which is sent to an iPhone equipped with Apple Intelligence and iOS 26 for processing. After processing, the translation is retransmitted to headphones, allowing the user to hear the translated conversation. Apple recommends that both parties use AirPods for an optimal experience, and in cases where one of the interlocutors does not have headphones, the written translation can be displayed on the phone's screen. The feature will support English, French, German, Portuguese, Spanish, and Italian languages. The delay in the launch in Europe was caused by engineering modifications necessary for compliance with EU digital market legislation. This functionality was announced at WWDC 2025, being available in other regions since September.
