The Real Madrid club informed UEFA about the incidents of racism that occurred during the Champions League match against Benfica, in which forward Vinicius Jr. was subjected to racist insults from Argentine player Gianluca Prestianni.


Following Vinicius's complaint, the match was interrupted for about ten minutes. Real Madrid actively collaborated with UEFA, which opened an investigation, announcing that an ethics and disciplinary inspector will investigate the allegations. The club emphasized the importance of eradicating racism and violence in sports, appreciating the support of the football community for Vinicius Jr. in this situation. Madrid won the match 1-0.
