Russian President Vladimir Putin held a significant phone conversation with French President Emmanuel Macron, the first since September 2022, centered on the crisis in the Middle East and the conflict in Ukraine. Macron called for a ceasefire and the resumption of peace talks. Putin emphasized Iran's right to peaceful nuclear energy development and said the war in Ukraine was a consequence of Western policy.
