On Saturday, Denmark was the scene of massive demonstrations in which thousands of citizens voiced their support for Greenland and their opposition to US President Donald Trump's plans to acquire the self-governing territory. The protests were organized in response to pressure from Trump, highlighting the close link between Denmark and Greenland and the Danes' desire to retain sovereignty over the territory.
