Belgian farmers blocked the E42 highway in protest at difficulties in the agricultural sector, joining other protest movements in the EU.

The protest was organized by the Federation of Young Farmers (FJA), which is calling for a reform of the EU's common agricultural policy to take account of unfair competition from other countries. They are unhappy about restrictions imposed by EU environmental policies, free market access for Ukrainian products and rising costs.
