In Bolivia, the Movement for Socialism (MAS), in power since 2006, has been ousted from the presidential race and two right-wing candidates will face each other in the run-off. Senator Rodrigo Paz leads with 31.3% of the vote, followed by former president Jorge 'Tuto' Quiroga with 27.1%. The elections were held against the backdrop of a severe economic crisis, with inflation of almost 25% and shortages of dollars and fuel. President Luis Arce, considered responsible for the party's failure, will not run for another term.
