The port of Antwerp-Bruges has become a huge parking lot for thousands of vehicles destined for export to the US following the imposition of 25% trade tariffs by President Trump. Car exports fell by 15.9% and truck exports by 31.5%. European carmakers such as Volkswagen and Volvo had hoped for a trade deal, but negotiations have failed. In addition, delays in unloading containers have increased, and the port is facing a redirection of trade flows, including an increase in Chinese vehicles being stored.
