Peter Magyar, the leader of the TISZA Party, declared on Wednesday that his new government will suspend the activities of state media and adopt a new press law, after achieving a crushing victory in the recent elections, putting an end to Viktor Orban's 16 years of governance.

Magyar emphasized that every Hungarian deserves a public service media that broadcasts the truth and promised to create the necessary conditions for state media to fulfill its role. Critics have accused the state press under Viktor Orban of becoming a mouthpiece for the government, and Magyar promised to restore its independence.

With a strong majority in the Hungarian legislature, Magyar has the opportunity to reform a system criticized by the European Union for undermining democratic norms.
