Muhammad Shahzeb Khan, a 21-year-old Pakistani man, pleaded guilty on Wednesday to a terrorism charge, admitting that it was a "morally reprehensible" idea. Khan stated that he responded to the Islamic State group's call to kill Jews, planning an attack in October 2024, to coincide with the anniversary of the Hamas attacks on October 7, 2023. He was arrested in Canada on September 4, 2024, and was brought to the United States, where he acknowledged the intention to cross the border to carry out the attack. Khan explained that he was motivated by the killings of Palestinians by Israel and that he now regrets his plan, describing it as "extremely dangerous and morally wrong." The judge set the sentencing date for August 12, when Khan faces up to life in prison. Authorities emphasized that he drew the attention of investigators through his online posts supporting the Islamic State and that he communicated with undercover officers about his attack plans.
