On Sunday, Pakistan and Afghanistan agreed to an immediate ceasefire following negotiations held on Saturday in Qatar, aimed at restoring calm at the border after clashes that resulted in dozens of deaths. Qatar's Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that the two parties established mechanisms to ensure lasting peace. The terms of the ceasefire were not detailed, but Afghan and Pakistani officials will hold meetings to ensure its implementation. Pakistan's Defense Minister, Khawaja Asif, confirmed the agreement and mentioned a forthcoming meeting in Istanbul on October 25. Tensions have recently escalated, with accusations of airstrikes by Pakistan that led to the deaths of Afghan civilians.
