The lawyers of rapper Sean 'Diddy' Combs have filed a request with the Manhattan Court of Appeals, seeking his immediate release and the annulment of his conviction for pimping. Diddy, incarcerated in a New Jersey prison, was sentenced to 50 months in prison in October after being found guilty of transporting individuals for the purpose of prostitution. His lawyers argue that he was treated harshly by Judge Arun Subramanian, who ignored the jury's verdict and concluded that Diddy had coerced and exploited women.
They emphasize that, in general, sentences for such crimes are much shorter, and Diddy's conviction is without precedent. The judge stated that the testimonies of the victims severely influenced the severity of the sentence, rejecting Diddy's defense that attempted to minimize the actions as consensual intimate experiences.
