European prosecutors have met physical resistance from OPEKEPE employees during searches linked to an investigation into agricultural fraud. Laura Codruța Kövesi, the head of the EU prosecutor's office, promised to continue investigations despite the intimidation. OPEKEPE was accused of lack of cooperation and the agency's president was sacked after tense clashes with prosecutors. The investigation concerns possible fraud linked to farm subsidy fraud and the agency risks losing its certification to manage EU funds.
