Novo Nordisk's shares rose by 9.2% after the Danish company became the first to receive FDA approval for the GLP-1 pill Wegovy, intended for weight loss.

This approval is considered a rehabilitation of the company after a difficult year, marked by financial cuts and changes in management. CEO Mike Doustdar emphasized that oral therapy offers a convenient option for patients. Novo intends to launch Wegovy in the USA in January 2026, with a price of $149 per month. Analysts believe that this pill will be a strategic growth engine in competition with Eli Lilly, which has also applied for approval for a similar drug. Although Novo experienced a 50% drop in shares in 2025, the approval of Wegovy could improve the company's long-term prospects.
