Nathan Gill, former leader of Reform UK in Wales and MEP for UKIP and the Brexit Party, has been sentenced to 10 and a half years in prison for bribery. He pleaded guilty to eight charges for actions committed between December 2018 and July 2019, receiving the equivalent of at least £40,000. Investigators believe that the main motive for his actions was his financial situation.

Gill made statements intended to support the Kremlin's narrative about Ukraine, including in the European Parliament and on a pro-Russian Ukrainian television channel, associated with Oleg Voloshin, an ally of Vladimir Putin. These actions took place before Russia's invasion of Ukraine in 2022.
