The authorities in Bulgaria have imposed fines of over 100,000 euros on traders who unjustifiably raised prices, in the context of adopting the euro, according to the National Revenue Agency. So far, the penalties amount to nearly 200,000 leva, and inspections show that irregularities have been found in less than 10% of the traders checked. Inspectors are analyzing approximately 1,000 complaints received from citizens, most concerning food products, while companies are required to justify any price increases that occurred after January 1.
