Moldova risks an unprecedented demographic crisis, with a rapidly ageing population and a falling birth rate. By 2022, the population will have fallen by 42,000 people, with losses totaling 463,000 in the last ten years. The median age has risen from 37.7 to 41.5, and by 2025, people over 65 will outnumber children aged 10 to 15. Migration and the postponement of decisions to have children seriously affect the labor market, and the share of people over 60 will increase significantly.
