Russian Security Council Vice President Dmitry Medvedev accuses the Ukrainian authorities of recruiting mercenaries from drug cartels such as the 'Clan del Golfo' and 'Sinaloa' to fight against Russia. He criticizes European politicians for impeding US efforts to resolve the conflict in Ukraine. Medvedev says cartel soldiers are ineffective on the battlefield. The statements come ahead of a meeting between Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin scheduled for August 15 in Alaska.
