The European Commission expressed a favorable position on Friday regarding a meeting between American President Donald Trump and Russian Vladimir Putin, which could take place in Budapest. The spokesperson for the EC, Olof Gill, emphasized that any meeting that contributes to advancing the peace process in Ukraine is welcome.

At the same time, the spokesperson for the Kremlin, Dmitry Peskov, mentioned that there are still "numerous issues" to resolve before a potential summit. Peskov confirmed the desire to organize the meeting, which could take place in about two weeks, and announced that Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and American Secretary of State Marco Rubio will begin preliminary discussions.
